Types of Therapy

Couples/family therapy

Our work with couples focuses on communication and healing relationships.

In our experience the majority of issues for couples or families stems from ineffective communication which can include: a lack of hearing what is being communicated, lack of validating what is being said, or loss of interest in wanting to communicate.

Many of us were never taught how to argue or disagree fairly which can cause unresolved issues within the relationship. When you find yourself arguing about the same things repeatedly, it is a sign that issues are going unresolved in your relationships. This is a very dangerous situation as it can cause resentment and mistrust which over time will destroy your relationship. We can help you learn how to communicate more effectively with your partner and help you rebuild your trust in each other.

Individual therapy

The goals during individual therapy vary widely depending on the issues you are seeking relief from. However, typically when individuals present for therapy it is due to symptoms of a greater problem. For example, a person may report symptoms of depression when the greater issue may stem from low self-worth, poor boundary or limit setting, or abusive relationships. If you find yourself encountering a reoccurring pattern in your life that is causing you discomfort, individual therapy is a powerful and effective tool to help you uncover what the root issues are. We can help you free yourself from repeating the same behaviors.
